Movie News #1 June 3 and 4, 2013 and Weekend releases and box office June 4- June 7, May 31

Let's get right out of the gates with the news from yesterday and today:

The third installment to the Expendables franchise has four new actors and a release dates set for August 15, 2014. The four actors joining the main trio of Stallone, Willis, and Schwarzenegger are Nicolas Cage(National Treasure, Knowing), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Wesley Snipes (Blade), and Jackie Chan (Rush Hour, The Karate Kid). My opinion on this news is one name does not fit, Nic Cage. This actor has not proven himself to be a great actor in recent years with flops such as National Treasure The Book of Secrets, the Ghost Rider Franchise, and other smaller films. The only mere fan and critic success was Kick Ass which I loved. But that film did not make a good box office number. As for the other names I'm excited to see the others kick ass once again on screen next to the famed 80's action stars.

Another development is the addition to Bond 24. The new Bond girl will be portrayed by Penelope Cruz. I have never been very fond of Penelope Cruz, her acting is so so, and has influenced my decision somewhat to see Pirates 4. But then I've never loved those films either. But I am very excited for the follow up to 2012's Skyfall.

This week MGM announced that they will release the famous Wizard of Oz in IMAX 3D. Although I loved the classic I think 3D may be a waste of money, but IMAX is the greatest choice for this film. The opportunity to see this on screen will be amazing, but there is little they can do for the 3D.
